TotalEnergies Marketing Jordan Announces Winners of Startupper of the Year

TotalEnergies Marketing Jordan announced the winners of the 2018-2019 Startupper Challenge following the competition finals. The ceremony took place on 13th March 2019 at the W Amman hotel.

 

The top three winners announced were:

  • First place: Fares Aksha for his project (NeuroGarden); a training program prepared with a specialized body of scientists, academics and researchers working in collaboration with the community to create and deliver neural education programs aimed at improving early childhood information for caregivers, teachers and policy makers.
     
  • Second place: Samia Sharawi for her project (Quitem), an integrated solution to help smokers quit smoking without any symptoms. The application is the only solution in the world that helps to quit from the nicotine addiction habit. Ms. Shawari was invited to TotalEnergies main headquarters in the French capital, Paris, to spend a week there as with the rest of the 55 contestants of the Startupper Challenge, Ms. Sharawi will also be representing various business leaders in Jordan.
  • Third place: Abdullah Abu Mahfouz for his project (Sadeq Activities App); an application for parents with children from 1 to 12 years of age, which provides them with a number of activities that are organized according to age and explained step by step. The application aims to improve the quality of time parents spend with their children.

 

The three projects were chosen from amongst more than 800 projects submitted for these competitions after voting through a questionnaire, in addition to the pronounced admiration these projects enjoyed, after being presented to social work specialists.

 

The jury committee consisted of 10 members: Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Jordan, Stéphane Lapauw; Human Resources Manager at TotalEnergies, Lina Abdulhafid; General Manager of Societe Bank, Nadeem Qabwat; Managing Partner of Al Shaker Business Development Consultancy, Suzanne Afanah; Director of Communications and Marketing at TotalEnergies, Dina Al Daoud; Director of Fuel and Services at TotalEnergies, Moataz Nazzal; Ayman Afanah, Technical Advisor at Microsoft; Yousuf Chamoun, CEO and Co-Founder of Akhtaboot; Esmatullah Khan, Secretary General of TotalEnergies Marketing Jordan.

 

The Startupper entrepreneurs received financial support of up to € 250,000, in addition to a six-month personal training and a campaign to identify the winning projects.

 

The 2018-2019 Startupper Challenge, which is being held in 55 countries - 37 in Africa, 11 in Asia & the Pacific and the Middle East, 4 in the Americas and 3 in Europe - demonstrates TotalEnergies

commitment to contributing to social and economic development in the global company’s host countries, by helping entrepreneurs and innovators achieve their projects and reinforce the very fabric of local communities.
